ENJOYING RESTAURANTS & EATING OUT GLUTEN FREE

Being gluten-free really doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the absolute pleasure of eating out with friends and family. Now more than ever, restaurants are cooking for all kinds of allergies and intolerances including for those on a gluten free diet.

Here’s some tips we’ve found really useful:

Get Ahead of the Game

Checking out the restaurants website, menu or Instagram feed in advance can tell you loads, or call ahead with any questions you may have. Restaurants want you to have a relaxing, enjoyable time with them and will be happy to help.

Ask Away

Even if you’ve done your homework, don’t be afraid or embarrassed to ask the waiter for advice or recommendations when you get there. Ask about anything at all that is worrying you. If they seem unsure, it’s perfectly okay to ask politely if you can speak to the expert, le chef. They may have more detailed knowledge about the ingredients and preparation of the dishes.

Take us With You

If ever in doubt, take some delicious Genius bread with you. You can ask if they’d be okay to serve it alongside your meal. It may even encourage the restaurant to buy it and use in their kitchen. A win-win.

Sharing’s Caring

There are a good number of gluten free blogs and social media pages out there where people share their experiences of eating out. They are great if you’re looking for recommendations so try following some of them.
