Hygiene Manager
ROLE: Hygiene Manager

LOCATION: Bathgate (but responsible for all Genius locations)

We have an opportunity for an experienced Hygiene Manager with a passion for food quality to join us at Genius. As a gluten free business, the standards of hygiene required in our factories is of paramount importance. This role then is critical to another level in assuring food safety is maintained. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be joining us at an exciting time as we drive forward on our factory standards and ways of working. If you are looking for a role where you can make your mark on the overall business, this is the one for you, taking existing processes and expanding them and embedding them.

There is a small team of hygiene operatives on each shift with a senior member for direction; how you get the best out of them will be down to your people skills and clear understanding on how the hygiene activity links directly to food safety and productivity at the same time. Flexibility to work over all the shifts is a necessary part of this role with a presence in the factory to provide support and clear leadership. Liaising with the Planning function, Product team, Engineers and Technical department will be the way of working that is expected to link everyone together. Someone with a positive outlook is needed along with the ability to problem solve on your feet while also giving attention to the detail. Expecting high standards from your team will help create the high level of service the Hygiene function needs to give to support manufacturing.

The key responsibilities of the role are:
  • The health and safety for all personal entering the factory through clean environment and the safe way of plant operation through correct cleaning and return to production.
  • All manufacturing equipment (plant and mobile equipment) is clean and disinfected to assure food safety and optimum running of plant.
  • Cleaning factory fabric to a standard and at a frequency that ensures it does not pose a risk to employee health and safety or product food safety.
  • Using risk assessments as the basis for determining cleaning regimes.
  • Being the point of contact for the pest control contract service personnel, understanding the outcomes of all contracted inspections and setting in place the necessary remedial action to all contractor and internal pest sighting reports.
  • The management of the departmental budget within the limits set.
  • Opening the hygiene processes to scrutiny by internal auditors, customers and accreditation auditors, taking all findings as a way to improve.
  • The utilisation of hygiene operatives, materials and equipment effectively ensuring people and food safety standards are achieved over all shifts.
  • Continuously improve the processes and effectiveness of the hygiene department.
  • Responding to additional tasks as they arise – e.g., cleaning plant after engineering intervention, respond to clean up in the event of a prolonged breakdown.
  • Responsible for the Hygiene team management, coordinating the hygiene strategy across the site with regards to people development, engagement and cost control.
  • Support in an active manner the health and safety culture across the site
  • Employing effective Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to drive SMART actions, leading to continuous improvement.
  • Site lead for setting GMP cleaning standards and working with all factory departments to achieve the best results.
  • Conducting hygiene audits and chemical concentration checks.
  • Participating in environmental and analytical testing and respond to results as and when necessary.
  • Authorising plant hygiene and process changes to maintain product safety and quality ensuring robust validation is carried out and a programme of verification is established.
  • Member of the business Haccp team.
  • Provide in house training on cleaning methodology as required and also pest awareness.

Sourcing & Packaging Project Lead

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sourcing & Packaging Project Lead with a passion for food to join us at Genius. Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will be joining us at an exciting time as we drive forward our ambition to help everyone suffering from gluten related symptoms to live a life of symptom free deliciousness.

We are currently transforming our Procurement function to drive value across our business. To achieve this, we are on the look-out for an enthusiastic individual to work within our procurement team in strong collaboration with our NPD, Technical, and Marketing departments. Our ideal candidate is someone with FMCG procurement experience, looking to take full ownership of the packaging category as well as develop into other areas of spend, or someone with experience in packaging development looking to develop into a procurement role whilst maintaining a strong link to development projects. You will be joining a small team and it is imperative that you are self motivated, curious, with a desire to learn and collaborate. You will take ownership for the Packaging category and support the wider team with packaging development projects, proactively look for opportunities, keep up to date on new products and market trends, and play a key role in ensuring our product arrives in our customers homes looking and tasting it’s best.

The key responsibilities of the role are: • Build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the business,
• Support NPD and Marketing to deliver fit for purpose packaging solutions aligned with project timelines,
• Support development of procedures aligned with procurement best practice,
• Lead category strategy development and drive implementation,
• Identify new suppliers, benchmark, and negotiate pricing and contracts,
• Proactively mitigate risk and identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the supply chain,
• Act as an escalation point for supplier issues,
• Keep system data up to date and accurate,
• Provide support and cover for raw materials and material supply.

Multiskilled Engineer
ROLE: Multiskilled Engineer
HOURS: 38.5 hours per week (12 hour shifts on a 4 days on, 4 days off alternating shift pattern)
REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: No direct reports
LOCATION: Bathgate

We have an exciting opportunity for a Multiskilled Engineer to join us at Genius. As a Multiskilled Engineer at Genius Food Limited, you will be responsible for maintaining and generating improvements across our bakery and site, troubleshooting issues as they arise and leveraging the breadth of skills and experience you bring to the role . You will work collaboratively with the Engineering team and the wider site to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Perform planned routine and reactive maintenance repair work on all plants and equipment at the bakery site.
• Complete written reports on maintenance work carried out and identify future work.
• Plan and implement improvement ideas to increase the throughput and efficiency of the operating plants.
• Ensure the best possible resolution to issues experienced, meeting the reliability requirements of the Bakery production schedules.
• Troubleshoot issues as they arise, leveraging your knowledge and experience, and drawing on your great problem solving skills!

Experience Required:

• Completed a recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship.
• Proven Electrical Engineering experience within a Manufacturing environment.
• 18th Edition IEE wiring regulation pass.
• Basic Food Hygiene certification.
• Ability to self-manage and prioritise workload to meet commitments and deadlines.

Desirable Experience:
• Experience with PLC controlled process equipment and plant.
• Strong engineering competence on production plant and auxiliary equipment.
• Familiarity with Permit to Work systems.
• Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
• Experience in continuous improvement.
• Pest Control Awareness.
