Senior HR Advisor

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior HR Advisor with a passion for food to join us at Genius.

We are currently transforming our people agenda to ensure we attract, develop and retain great people to support us deliver our ambitions.  To achieve this, we are on the look-out for an enthusiastic and experienced HR professional to join us.
You will be joining a small (but perfectly formed) team and it is imperative that you have substantial and demonstrable generalist HR knowledge and experience covering recruitment and selection, performance management, employee relations and learning & development.  Ideally this experience would come from a FMCG environment, however, this is not a deal-breaker. What is more important is your ability to provide first-class HR advice and guidance.
Genius is a 24/7 business and there will be occasions where the role flexes to support our managers working nightshift (7am to 7pm).
The key responsibilities of the role are:
  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • Coach managers to ensure they have the ability and confidence to manage people related issues at first point of contact
  • Provide HR advice and guidance across the full spectrum of ER matters particularly absence, discipline, capability/performance management and grievance
  • Use MI data and reports to provide insights to stakeholders and identify people interventions
  • Use the Moorepay/Natural HR people systems to document people activity and run reports for the organisation
  • Build relationships with external parties including Occupational Health. H&S, Training providers as well as maintaining contacts with HR community peers
  • Support managers to resource their business areas including attraction, selection, onboarding and induction activities
  • Liaise with job centres, local schools/colleges to help source candidates directly
  • Keep up to date with key legislation changes and make recommendations to ensure policies and processes remain compliant
  • Ensure policies, procedures, handbooks, reports, job descriptions and contracts are kept up to date
Skills & Attributes  Essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to clearly present complex information
  • Ability to prioritise multiple work demands whilst remaining calm and professional
 Experience  Essential
  • Proven experience as an HR Advisor or in a similar HR role
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment law and regulations
  • Experience of the full employee resourcing cycle from attraction to induction
  • Sound knowledge of how to effectively manage ER issues from discipline, grievance, capability/performance management and absence
 Desirable
  • CIPD qualified or actively working towards achieving the qualification
  • Previous FMCG experience
  • Strong HR network
